January 2023 marks the beginning of the new year housing allowance. Your housing allowance is one of the most important parts of your church compensation. Remember, if major changes occur during the year, it is OK to recalculate and redistribute the amounts between housing and salary.  You may amend your allowance at any time during the year proactively, just not retroactively. December is the time to prepare your 2023 housing allowance and present it to your church for signature. Use your Pastor's House Account to prepare your allowance. Remember, an increase in the allowance is NOT an increase in your total budget amount.  It is just a decrease in the amount classified as salary. November is housing allowance review month. This is a good time to check your current year's expenditures within the allowable categories to see how close you come to meeting your projections. If you are close to the amount projected for the year, then do nothing. You are in great shape.
